  1. Helping Parents – As long as I live, may I help my parents.
  2. Respecting Elders – As long as I live, may I respect the family elders.
  3. Speaking Gently – As long as I live, may I speak gently.
  4. Avoiding Divisive Speech – As long as I live, may I not speak divisively.
  5. Generosity – As long as I live, may I live open-handed, ready to give and help others.
  6. Truthfulness – As long as I live, may I speak the truth.
  7. Anger Control – As long as I live, may I be free from anger or remove it quickly if it arises.

“Monks, in the past, Sakka achieved greatness by practicing these noble seven promises.”
